Moving on

Switching roles

This time I was not asked to make photographs. I was asked to pose for photographs.

I agreed.

We drove to a former slaughterhouse. The abandoned building is placed on top of a hill with an astonishing view on the Andalusian valley.

As soon as I entered the interior I noticed the building is kept alive by committed graffiti sprayer.

I’m not really used to standing in front of the lens and I must admit it was at first quite strange.

When I stand behind the camera I know exactly what I have to do. I know how to keep the shooting under control.

But while playing my new character I felt completely helpless. I waited for instructions and hoped silently I could manage my assigned model role.

I covered up my tenseness and tried to ignore the cold wind which blew through the open construction. I was asked to change my styling using different accessories. I even bravely wore too loud colours which I would never wear freely.

Even if the shooting was not too long it seemed to me like an eternity.

Definitely I prefer being the photograph and standing behind the lens telling the model what to do.

But switching roles taught me how inexperienced models feel like and gives me a better understanding of the happening in their minds. Hereby I hope improving my skills as a portrait photographer and moving one step forward.

Now I’m expecting delighted my next portrait shooting which will fortunately be very soon.

Thankfully

Again one year ends and a new one starts…but I definitively hope 2015 will be as gorgeous as my previous year.

Thankfully, 2014 was a fantastic year for me. The past twelve months were positively marked by innovations, small and big successes, new friendships and enriching journeys. I won plenty of valuable acquaintances. Happily I could fully undertake a long-desired photography project in an orphanage in Düsseldorf together with dear colleges. Of course there also were some failures but after struggling a while with them, they lastly, made me stronger.

I usually never start into the year with a list of new year resolutions but with hopes, ideas, dreams and projects. My targets for the upcoming time are quite challenging. Nevertheless I’m confident that I will achieve my goals. Finally, I absolutely trust my healthy persistence and my precious network. And of course I have confidence being fortunate.

I want to say a big thank you for supporting and motivating me. Thank you for following my postings.

I wish you all a holy and blessed new year 2015.

Sankt Raphael Projekt

Der BTC-Fotoclub Düsseldorf hat für die Bewohner des Sankt Raphael Hauses in Oberbilk im Herbst 2014 ein wohltätiges Fotoprojekt durchgeführt.

Das Sankt Raphael Haus ist ein Ort für Kinder, Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene, auch mit Behinderung, die in ihren Familien nicht die notwendige Versorgung und Förderung erfahren, sowie für minderjährige Flüchtlinge oder Familien mit ihren Kindern. In der integrativen Einrichtung wohnen zurzeit ca. 80 Kinder und Jugendliche.

Die Kinder wurden in ihrer gewohnten Umgebung bei diversen Sport- und Freizeitaktivitäten fotografiert, ohne sie in ihrem gewohnten Tagesablauf zu beeinträchtigen. Die Fotos entstanden während die Kinder Tischtennis und Fußball spielten, während des wöchentlichen Crosstrainings, beim Klettern, Radeln und beim Zusammenkommen vor den beliebten Kinovorführungen.

Initiiert hat das Projekt Angélica Colomine Goede und zusammen mit Ihren Kollegen vom BTC Fotoclub Düsseldorf ehrenamtlich durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse wurden den Kindern als Fotoabzüge hinter Acrylglas als Weihnachtsgeschenk überreicht.

Die jungen Heimbewohner haben sich nicht nur über die Fotoabzüge gefreut, sondern auch ganz besonders über die Shootings und die erhaltene Zuwendung.

Belohnt wurden die Fotoclub Düsseldorf Fotografen durch die freudige Gesichtsausdrucke der Kinder. Die Shootings waren eine bereichernde und wundervolle Erfahrung für alle ehrenamtlich arbeitenden Fotografen: Robert Basak, Angélica Colomine Goede, Nils Gröblinghoff, Martin Rütgers, Volker Sternemann, Brigitte Klemke und Barbara Wünsche.

Der BTC Fotoclub Düsseldorf ist eine von mehreren Sparten des gemeinnützigen Vereins ‚BTC Sportlub‘ und Mitglied des DVF (Deutscher Verband der Fotografie).

Darüber hinaus beteiligt sich der BTC-Fotoclub Düsseldorf mit großem Engagement regelmäßig an verschiedene Projekte, nationale und internationale Wettbewerbe und wickelt jährlich den Düsseldorfer Fotomarathon ab.

Das Fotoprojekt konnte dank der finanziellen Unterstützung von Pixum Diginet und des Rheinischen Sparkassen- und Giroverbands realisiert werden.

Da die Fotos der Kinder nicht der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht werden dürfen, sind diesem Bericht nur Fotos der erwachsenen Projektbeteiligten und über das ‘Making-ofs‘ beigefügt.
